Advising to Arctaris since 2020, Barnet Sherman currently works with the firm’s Portfolio Company Services team as well as developing its Home Healthcare investment platform. With over 30 years of institutional investor experience at Morgan Stanley and TIAA building multibillion dollar portfolios through investments in essential public purpose projects across the United States, Mr. Sherman founded The Tenbar Group in 2016. Passionate in his belief that entrepreneurship and catalytic capital can have a transformative, positive impact on underserved communities, his consulting practice focuses on advising to mission-driven startups and private equity impact funds that are committed this principle. Prior to his career in finance, Mr. Sherman served as a Congressional Aide in Washington, D.C.Mr. Sherman is published in his field and is a Senior Contributor to Forbes.com. His column is in its 11th year, having earned numerous “Editor’s Choice” recognitions. His investment thinking and observations have been noted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Chronicle of Higher Education, CNBC, Inc., and Barron’s.
In addition to being an Adjunct Professor of Corporate Finance and Multinational Trade at Boston University, he is often an invited guest lecturer at colleges and universities where he enjoys engaging students on a wide variety of topics.He has served on several boards of directors and is the Co-Trustee of the Meyer and Naomi Sherman Art Trust. The Trust is dedicated to using the artwork of Meyer & Naomi Sherman to help families affected by cancer. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and is an Eagle Scout as well as a life-time member of the Eagle Scout Association. Mr. Sherman earned his undergraduate degree from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and awarded membership in Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. His Master’s in Public Administration is from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
